Noah's Ark Matching Game

The animals came to the ark two by two, and that is exactly how this game works: find the two lions, the two elephants, the two giraffes and march every pair into Noah's ark. Twenty-four animals, two of each, and a big ark page with Noah waving at the bottom of the ramp. Every picture is our own original drawing.

TWO LEVELS IN ONE GAME ★

Most memory games are solved by colour alone, and a child never really looks at the picture. Not this one.

✓ Sixteen animals are easy - each one a different colour and a different shape.

✓ Then four pairs that look alike on purpose: a horse and a zebra, a sheep and a goat, a camel with one hump and a camel with two, a duck and a long-necked goose. Your child has to look closely at the stripes, the horns, the humps and the neck.

A spot-the-difference page shows every look-alike pair side by side, so you always know which is which.

Deal only the easy sixteen for a small child, and add the harder ones as they grow.

TWO BY TWO ★

The ark page turns the game into the story: every time your child finds a pair, the two animals march up the ramp and into the ark. When every pair is inside, the ark is ready to sail. The page carries the verse "There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark" (Genesis 7:9, KJV), for a Bible lesson that children can hold in their hands.

MORE WAYS TO PLAY ★

The same cards also play Go Fish, Snap and Animal Detective, where one player describes a card and the others guess its name. The rules are in the file.

Perfect for Sunday school, children's church, Bible lessons at home, homeschool, VBS stations, quiet time and screen-free afternoons.

► Rules for five games: memory, Two by Two, Go Fish, Snap and Animal Detective

HOW TO PLAY ★

Print, cut along the dashed lines, turn everything face down and mix it up.

Turn over two cards. A pair? Keep them and march them into the ark.

For younger children, start with six pairs face up and simply find the matches together.

MAKE IT LAST ★

Print on thin card, or glue the sheets onto card before cutting. Laminate them and they will last for many Sunday school classes.

PRINTING ★

Print at 100 percent, not "fit to page", so everything stays the size it was drawn.

Use the US Letter file on US Letter paper and the A4 file on A4 paper. The cards are the same size in both, and the artwork sits well clear of the edges.
